Audi Gradually Restarts Auto Production

Audi has announced that it will gradually resume the production of cars at its Europe plants after temporarily shutting it down due to corona virus disease 2019 (CoViD-19).

According to the company, production will be back to normal by end of April. Operations in other parts of the world, on the other hand, will follow soon. Its worldwide resumption of production as well as of its suppliers and service providers will be coordinated with the Volkswagen Group, its parent company.

Moreover, manufacturing at Audi sites will be ramped up starting in late-April. Engine production in Gyor, Hungary, however, has already started last week.

Audi stressed that safety measures will still be observed and health regulations of each country will also be followed. These include social distancing, personal hygiene, a modified work shift system to avoid contact, and requiring the use of mouth and nose protection for personnel in certain areas. Also, work-from-home arrangement can be imposed on some workers.

Audi's Chairman of Labor Council, Peter Mosch, said that their highest priority on the resumption of production is the health protection of their employees.
