2016 Toyota Fortuner Review

The all-new 2016 Toyota Fortuner is one of the most anticipated launches this year! The Fortuner is one of the very strong models of Toyota, even if it traces its roots all the way back to 2006.

With the all-new Fortuner, Toyota isn't taking any chances and has put a whole new set of engines under the Fortuner's hood.

This is led by a new 1GD 2.8-liter diesel engine with 177 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 1,600 to 2,400 rpm. This torque figure goes down to 420 Nm at 1,400 to 2,600 rpm when paired with the manual gearbox.

This engine is joined by a smaller diesel engine, a 2.4-liter 2GD with 150 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque.

All engines come with a choice of either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox, although the 4WD model only comes with an automatic gearbox. The 6-speed automatic even comes with a paddle shift.

With the new engine and the double wishbones at the front and the 4-link with coil springs at the back, the Fortuner can more than handle challenging terrain.

It provides good articulation, helping stabilize the wheels over crests or into crevices. Overall, it's smooth and well-matched to the torque characteristics of the diesel and allows for manual control.

Outside, the all-new Fortuner features a sleeker appearance. In terms of dimensions, it measures up at 4,795x1,855x1,835 millimeters. Arrive in style wherever you go with this definite head turner: the all-new Toyota Fortuner.

With stunning Daytime Running Lights and Bi-Beam LED Headlamps up front, and a redesigned silhouette accented by 18-inch alloy wheels and Power Back Door, the Fortuner really is a sight to behold.

Inside, the Fortuner is now more luxurious than ever before with a long list of comfort and safety features. It features leather stitching on the dashboard, available brown leather seats, and matte wood paneling.

It now gets a proximity key entry system with push button engine start/stop, up to 7 airbags, a climate control with rear air conditioning, a multi-information display nestled in the gauge cluster, a new touchscreen infotainment system, anti-lock brakes with EBD and brake assist, traction control and stability control, hill start assist, and a reverse camera system.

Every inch of the Toyota Fortuner exudes elegance and is the SUV epitome of luxury and suave. No wonder this is the country's top-selling SUV.
